These occur in the GCSE and A level years and are levied
in advance by the examination boards via the school. There
are also Association Board music examination fees. Such fees
are re-charged to parents.
Most textbooks are provided without any additional payment
for all pupils up to and including the Year 11. Sixth formers,
however, buy their own books and are charged accordingly.
The school normally subsidises the costs of expeditions
which are directly and compulsorily related to the curriculum.
The full charges will therefore normally arise only from optional
visits. (Such options are frequently available to interested
pupils.)
Membership is optional but encouraged. The single subscription
of £60 (£85 for overseas pupils) is levied on
the final term’s account.
Academic scholarships are awarded at 11+, at 13+ and at
16+ for entry into the Sixth Form. The maximum individual
award is limited to 50% of the fees, but this value may be
augmented to a maximum of 66% if there is evidence of financial
need.
All applications for scholarships must be accompanied by
a Confidential Financial Circumstances form, completed by
the candidate’s parents.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of assessment or examination,
a report from the candidate’s school and an interview
with the Headmaster. In the case of internal candidates, their
previous record at the school will be taken into account.
For the dates of the Scholarship Examinations and an application
form, please contact the Headmaster’s Secretary.
Awards of up to 50% of the School fees are available to
candidates who are academically sound and demonstrate outstanding
ability in Music, Art or Sport. Full details of these awards
and an application form are available from Annabelle Addison on (01902) 793002.
